Running Man!

No, not the deliciously trashy Arnold movie... moi! I ran my first 5K this week. Consider that hurdle jumped. My main goal was to finish under thirty minutes, which I did handily. I also wanted to smoke all of my co-workers pictured above (which I did). I'm standing on the right, pardon the bird that landed on my head, I have no idea what was going on there.

Note to self... never do a run during 20 degree weather again. It was way harsh Tai.

Just remember, Godbecca is coming for that wig, your favs will NEVER and she is not tolerating any lames. The ABlackalypse has officially started. Pack it up, hit the bricks and ride it down mainstreet. Ovah and out!

I know Rebecca Black's "Friday" video has made the rounds practically everywhere, but better late than never. I CAN'T, I really just... CAN'T. I hate laughing at this because she looks like a complete sweetheart, but this song is HIGHlarious. The folks at Ark Music Factory have been putting out terrible tween videos for a while now, but this one takes the cake. Why? I think it all comes down to the bridge... "We we we so excited... we so excited." You know what? We really are, Rebeccallah would never tell a lie.

UPDATE: Moment of honesty. I totally just copped this shit on iTunes.

Random stupid observation...

And by stupid, I mean REALLY stupid. Has anyone else noticed banana peels in parking lots? It's just so random and weird to me. In all of my days, I have never seen anyone eating a banana while driving in their car. Who the hell is eating these bananas and throwing the peels out of the window? Not that it really bothers me... but seriously, next time you're in a big parking lot, look for the banana peels, I guarantee you that there's at least one.

I just hope monkeys aren't involved. I can't stand monkeys.

Duck X-ing

I love ducks. I consider them the comedians of the animal kingdom. They're adorable, they waddle around, they quack and make weird noises for no reason. Long story short, they crack me up. I can't be in a bad mood if ducks are around.

One of the cooler aspects of the property I live on is that ducks are everywhere (thanks to a large creek out back). They just waddle around looking cute, quacking up a storm. My favorite thing to do? Walk slowly behind one. Have you ever seen a duck try to run away? Hilarious! I've been hearing quacks and rumbles underneath my bedroom window early in the morning, I think some ducks are making a home in my bushes. I tried to get a good pic, but they got pissed and wouldn't stay still.

Now for the sad part. The duck crossing sign pictured above is further down the street. For some inexplicable reason, the ducks insist on crossing the road several times a day en masse. Unfortunately, some of them don't make it back. Serious duck carnage, poor things... And the ass-kicker? There's absolutely nothing on the other side of the road! I don't get their motivation. Maybe ducks are also the thrill-seekers of the animal kingdom.

No Wow

Finally! Alison Mosshart has decided to take a break from The Dead Weather (who are dreadful IMO) and rejoin her far better band The Kills. Outside of dating Kate Moss, I honestly don't know what Hince has been up to. I'm super-excited, if this upcoming album is half as good as Midnight Boom, we're in for a treat. The first single "Satellite" was released a few weeks back and it's a grower, I'm completely addicted to it now. And of course the gorgeous video by Sophie Muller (who can do no wrong) doesn't hurt. Can't wait until April!

I just have not had the energy or inspiration to write a blog post lately. I feel like such a lazy bum blogger! I'm in an exhausting place in my life right now, still trying to figure out my new job (which has not come easily unfortunately) and I've stepped up the marathon training big time. Running long distance is fucking hard, far more than I ever thought it would be. I guess it comes easier to some people. My trainer keeps telling me it will get better, but I'm seriously starting to wonder if I'm built to be a runner. Either way I'm gonna keep plugging... I spent hard earned cash registering for that marathon! I'm getting my money's worth.

I have a 5K later this month that I'm not worried about. But that run in May... it's creeping me out. FYI, I tend to worry about stupid shit far in advance, so forgive my whining. Like, what do you do with your keys, wallet and phone while your running? How do I get back to my car after I've finished? Will people secretly judge me if I have to stop and walk? Yeah, like I said, stupid shit.

The training alone has been worth it though. I've lost 21 pounds so far and I'm in far better shape than before. Here's hoping I make some huge strides over the next two months.

Me on a conference call at work, trying to figure out what in the holy hell these people are talking about. I do love rocking my Janet Jackson in "Control" headset.
